about

To Be Human is inspired by the sounds and message of 60s folk-rock artists - an upbeat, reflective track on what it means to hold each other accountable to love. Vintage instruments such as the Mellotron (made popular by The Beatles), mandolin, piano, and guitar set the soundscape for Braden’s personal journey of leaving religion behind and looking at the world with fresh eyes. The song is written from the perspective of an “observer” or an alien to Earth, who is trying to understand what it means to be human. They learn that every belief system humans subscribe to is problematic when wielded with conditions and exclusivity - when in reality love should be the only condition, and loving other humans in this life just might be enough to believe in. “At the end of the day all we need is to be loved, to be human”
